                         BRIGHT STARS IN THE SKY
Brightness of the stars are shown by a signed number. A negative number shows the increased brightness. Dimmer stars get Zero or positive numbers. The Sun's brightness is -26.74. Moon's brightness is - 12.7. The brightness depends on (1) Self luminosity (2) The distance of the star. The brightness of a star reduces as the square of the distance from earth. The distance of the star is in Light Years (LYr) or the distance traveled by Light waves in 1 year. Light waves travel at 299,791.8 KM or 186,282 miles per second.  Hence, in 1 year it will cover 9.461 X 1012  KM or 5.878625 X 1012 miles. The Sun is our nearest star.  It is 8 and 1/3 Light minute away. Moon is the Earth's satellite planet. It is 1.3 Light seconds away. The absolute magnitude of a star is how bright the star appears at a standard distance of 32.6 Light years (3.086 X 1013 Kilometers) or 10 Parsecs.  1 Parsec = The distance at which the mean radius of the Earth's orbit subtends an angle of 1 second of an arc. An exhaustive list of  Very bright (1) to least bright (170) are covered.

STAR GEOMETRY

(1) Acturus (Aryaman) in Bootes (Boothapam) (2) Spica (Chithra) in Virgo (Kanya) (3) Regulus (Magham) in Leo (Simham) - Form a Celestial Bright Star Triangle

Extension of the tail stars (Alioth, Mizor and Alkaid)  in Ursa Major (Saptha Rishi) leads to Arcturus (Aryaman) in Bootes (Boothapam)

Connecting the Stars Merak (Pulaha) and Dubhe (Crathu) in Ursa Major (Saptha Rishi), and extending this line, leads to the Pole Star (Dhruva) in Ursa Minor (Dhruva Masyam

Ursa Minor (Dhruva Masyam) and Ursa Major (Saptha Rishi) are  North Pole Clocks : Above the North Pole the Pole Star (Dhruva) is fixed (Center Star in the above picture). It does not rise or set. The tail star rotate around this, like an hour hand of the clock.  The trapezium at the end of the tail shows the time. Aligned with this, the Ursa Major rotates in an outer circle.

GOPALA SAMUDRAM.S.VISWANATHAN ( GSV )
MY FATHER - AN INNOVATIVE AGRICULTURIST &
INGENIOUS ASTRONOMER

ASSUMPTIONS : 1) The total Energy in the cyber space is E (2) The total mass equivalent of  this total Energy is M.  FORMULA :  Energy and Mass relationship is E = MC2 as fixed by Albert Einstein. C =  The velocity of light.
=================================================================

  1. Universe is made up of only two manifestations. They are Energy and Matter (Mass).

  2. Universe is oscillating in this forward and backward processes of Energy & Mass  conversion, in a Simple Harmonic pattern.

  3. At one point of time, the Universe will reach a status of only Energy (E) manifestation,  without any Matter (M = 0). E Joules = M X 0.101971621298 kilogram.

  4. At a diametrically opposite point in time, the Universe will reach a status of only Matter (M) manifestation, without any Energy (E = 0).  M Kilograms = E X  (9 X 1016 ) Joules.

  5. In any intermediate stage, there will be partial Energy and partial Matter. But the total (Energy + Matter) = Constant.

  6. Everything in the Universe is an illusion of slowly inter-changing Energy to Matter manifestation cycle,  in the Space substrate, functioning in a Simple Harmonic pattern, From 0 to +360 Degrees forward and 360 to 0 Degrees backward.

  7. The time required for the forward and backward conversions are so large, that no living species can exist and see.

  8. Hence all the laws of Energy are applicable to the Mass (Matter), and all the laws of Mass (Matter) are applicable to the Energy.

Gazing the sky, naming the stars, wondering about their configuration and movements provide only an external happiness. While an exploration of their origin, their existence and their expected future provide an innovative rejoice. This foresightedness and motivation inducted by my father is the base for the development of this page on Stars and Sky.
